Wood being a natural material that is subject to manufacturing tolerance and can also be affected by storage conditions and moisture content. Variation in dimensions on natural products such as these are common and may vary from shipment to shipment.
Any measurements given in publications and online are those taken at that time of publication and are indicated as such ‘Sizes are approximate and may vary slightly’.
A finished handle shipped from the factory could change due to any of the above mention factors before reaching the retailer or while in storage. There is no set size for the eye of an axe and these will also vary for manufacturer to manufacturer most common eyes sizes can be accommodated using the correct wooden and steel wedge combination.
