I ordered with some trepidation - having read the comments.

HOWEVER.....instructions are simple. Flow direction obvious. Shaft rotation blatantly obvious.

I fail to understand how anybody can find fault with such simple instructions as the pump is clearly marked. I can only think that they try to reconcile the arrow directions with the water flow and pump design. This is pretty stupid. It does NOT pay to overthink and second guess the manufacturer. JUST FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. Works a treat.

Hi All, To avoid any confusion please see the below.

Please make sure your drill is in the forward position (clockwise). For reference this is indicated on the faceplate of the spindle, with an image of a drill and direction of travel.

The arrows located on the top stickers and either end by the fittings indicate the direction of flow.

The Faithfull water pump

The Faithfull water pump, when tested with the mains power drill of 240V, an average of 3.83L of water was displaced in the fixed period of 10 seconds. This was the second most volume of water that was transferred by the mains power drill, with a difference of 1.67L between Faithfull and a difference of 0.68L between Faithfull and Wolfcraft. When tested with the cordless drill, an average of 2.43L of water was displaced in the fixed period of 10 seconds. This volume was more than the volume of water transferred using the Draper water pump using the cordless drill. The Faithfull water pump is visibly more efficient than the Draper water pump, considering how the volume of water transferred by Faithfull using the cordless with the lower voltage of 18V is higher than both the volumes of water transferred by Draper using both drills, with Draper using higher voltage drill of 240V transferring only 2.16L. This places the Faithfull water pump in second place, although only second place it is still a very efficient water pump overall.

HAVING ONLY USED THIS PUMP ONCE SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED I WAS DELIGHTED TO SAY HOW EFFICIENT IT WAS, HOWEVER ON THE SECOND OCCASION I WAS UNSUCCESSFULL. UPON CLOSER EXAMINATION OF THE PUMP I REALIZED THERE WERE TWO VERY SMALL DIRECTIONAL ARROWS WHICH I HAD NOT OBSERVED WHICH INDICATED THE CORRECT FLOW CONSEQUENTLY,IT RESULTED IN ME RUNNING THE PUMP DRY MAKING IT U/S DUE TO MY ERROR WHICH I COULD PUT DOWN TO MY EYESIGHT OR AGE.

I WOULD RECOMEND THAT THESE TWO ARROWS BE HIGHLIGHTED FOR FUTURE BUYERS.

Couldn't agree more with this comment. I tried using the pump for the first time today. The arrows showing the direction of Flow are at the top and all Point from right to left looking from the spindle side but there is one curved arrow pointing clockwise on the casing near the spindle which appears to dictate that the drill needs to drive the spindle in a clockwise direction....opposite to the direction of the water Flow arrows. This confusion has probably led to me unintentionally running the pump dry for more that the 12 second limit and I have never therefore been able to do the job I bought it for. Most confusing! I still don't know which way the drill should turn the spindle even after an exhaustive search for instructions online which simply don't exist as far as I can tell.

does this pump need primeing before use

Asked by dennis hancock on 20th of September 2018

Yes, It is necessary to prime the pump, particularly if the hose attached to the pump is of any length as these type of pumps can find it difficult to lift water if there is a significant amount of air in the hose.
