This Faithfull Woodworking Vice is manufactured from close grain grey cast iron with a steel mainscrew for a long and trouble-free working life. The accurately machined housing coupled with solid steel guide rods assure a smooth sliding true parallel action for the jaw, free from side or cross deflection.
This vice has a toe-in feature so that when fully closed the jaws only meet at the top to provide even clamping on the whole depth of the workpiece. Wooden jaws may also be fitted to protect the workpiece and the vice. The adjustable front stop or dog gives an additional clamping facility when used in conjunction with a bench stop.

The vice jaw fixing holes are unthreaded. The jaw liners can be attached from the outside faces using wood screws.

The holes in the front jaw are unthreaded and the lining is fixed using woods screws from the outside. The holes in the rear jaw are threaded 1/4BSW. I used socket head machine screws, 1.5 long for my 7/8 thick lining.

Thanks for the very clear mounting advice. My (pine) worktop thickness is only 1.5 thick so I intend to use carriage bolts. Can you suggest suitable a size of bolt to best fit the holes in my 7 vice (Plain screw with Dog)? Also, will I need to put washers under the heads of the bolts to help spread the load across the worktop?
Yours faithfully,
Jon Davy

The bolt size for this vice should be 8mm or M8. The use of a suitable washer is advisable as this will prevent the nut pulling into the under surface of the worktop and help provide a firm fixing for the vice.

Are there installation instructions available for this vice? (just bought one and there weren't any in the box).
Thanks.

What size bolt should be used to match the threads in the fixing holes for the jaw liners?
