This thermometer records the highest and lowest temperatures reached throughout the day and night by pushing markers to the extreme readings until re-set.
Maximum Temperature
When the temperature rises, the marker in the right hand column will be pushed upwards to indicate the maximum temperature reached.
Minimum Temperature
When the temperature falls, the marker in the left hand column will be pushed upwards to indicate the minimum temperature reached.
Take your maximum and minimum readings from the base of each marker. The current temperature readings are taken from the top of the clear liquid ( where the clear and red liquid meet).
The markers will remain in position until reset.
Re-set Operation
Depress the centre button until the recording markers have floated down to the top of the clear liquid.

I have been given one of these thermometers as a Christmas present. Within 3 months the red liquid has turned clear and this thermometer is totally useless for telling the current temperature. It can only be used for recording maximum and minimum temperatures. This product has a 5 year guarantee so I emailed a complaint 2 weeks ago but have had no reply. DO NOT buy, unless you have money to throw away, if you want to know the current temperature.
