The No.80 cabinet scraper removes fine shavings from wood to give a very smooth finish.
Very useful for smoothing knots, burrs, crossed grain and removing old surface finishes on large areas. Unlike an abrasive it does not produce dust which can clog the grain.
The 70mm wide, 1.8mm thick blade is held in a fine grey iron cast body with a machined base. The wing handles allow for comfortable use over long periods. The cut can be changed from coarse to fine by turning the thumbscrew which forces the blade to bend slightly and protrude through the scrapers base.
The blade can be easily re-sharpened with a sharpening stone and a burr turned with a burnishing tool.

Very comfortable to use, but no documentation in the package on sharpening & raising a burr.
The blade is apparently a hardened steel plane blade. Trying to raise a burr left deep scratches in my burnishing tool and deep chips in the scraper blade which has taken several days to grind down on a diamond plate.
Now that I've got a sharp 25-30° bevel, I notice that the blade keeps chipping in the final sharpening process. This will leave scars in the scraper surface finish.
Beware this doesn't work as a normal scraper blade!!
