I received one of these for my birthday and I'm delighted. After a short time honing on a Faithful double sided diamond stone, it was sharp enough to shave my arm. It's beautiful to use too. There's a lot of snobbery about planes but this works just fine for me.

I bought this plane in its very nice box a few years ago. At the time I read some negative reviews. I found it worked fine and It gets a lot of use. I found a very small casting lump on one side of the blade bed near the throat. A quick touch with a file fixed it. The iron seems to be a loose fit in the body which allows more lateral movement than is necessary.
When I find the right blade position I tighten the knurled screw down tight and loosen it slightly if any lateral or blade depth adjustment is needed..
Other that these small criticisms I find it is nice plane. It's a Handy size for one handed work, has a good sharp blade and I do recommend it.

I have had one of these planes for about two years now. It is just brilliant and has become one of my favorite tools. Well made with a superb blade which keeps its edge really well. You can pay a fortune for planes. Don't bother - get one of these they are superb and easily match the more expensive stuff.

The plane is supplied with the blade honed to 25 degrees.
It is recommended to add a secondary/micro bevel angle of 30 degrees before use.
The blade can be sharpened with either oilstone or diamond whetstone .
A honing guide (FAIHG) can be used to help hone the blade at the correct angle.
